Here's a recipe for healthy and wholesome turkey burger. Delicious turkey burgers with a dollop of barbeque sauce, served with lettuce and tomato on the side.
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
1 lb. ground turkey
1 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
1 egg white
1/2 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon olive oil
4 whole grain sandwich rolls, split in half
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Combine the turkey, bread crumbs, egg white, sage, marjoram, salt and pepper in a large bowl until well blended. Shape into four burger patties.
Heat oil in large nonstick pan over a moderate heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan. Cook for 10 minutes or until the patties are no longer pink in the center. Turn over the patties and cook for another 10 minutes.
Place each burger on the bottom half of each roll. Spoon a tablespoon of the barbecue sauce on top of each burger. Place the tops of the rolls over the burgers. Serve with lettuce and tomato.
You can also arrange the lettuce and the tomato slices inside the bread rolls and insert a toothpick through each bread roll to hold it all together.
