Description:

Try this tempting recipe for succulent ham glazed with honey. A great main dish for any dinner.

Ingredients:

15 lbs. leg ham
A few cloves
2/3 cup soft brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon English mustard

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 deg F.
Discard the rind and any excess fat from the ham using a sharp knife.
Next, score the fat by making cuts crossways and then diagonally to form a diamond pattern. Press a clove into the centre of each diamond formed by the cuts.
For the glaze: Combine the sugar, honey and mustard in a bowl and spread the glaze evenly over the ham.
Place the ham on a rack in a deep baking dish. Add 2 cups of water. Cover the baking dish with foil, and cook for 45 minutes. Take the ham out of the oven. Increase the temperature to 210C. Return the ham to the oven and bake for a further 20 minutes, or until the meat looks caramelised. Allow the ham to rest for 15 minutes before carving.

Tips:

Do not score the ham too deep else the fat will fall off while cooking.
