Think of a Mexican meal and what comes to mind? Chili, of course! Here’s a recipe for a quick Chili with all the flavors of the meat and beans coming together to create this Mexican classic.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 ½ lbs. ground beef
½ cup chopped onion
1 ¾ oz. chili seasoning mix
½ cup water
1 can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can kidney beans, undrained
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Heat oil in a large, heavy skillet. Add in the onions and cook till transparent. Add the ground beef and cook over a moderate heat till the meat has browned. Stir in the chili seasoning mix, and then add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Cook chili in advance so that the flavors of the spices have time to seep into the meat.
