Chili

Description: 

The ultimate chili recipe that is quick to make but is guaranteed to satisfy both your soul and stomach. A melt-in-the-mouth combination of red beans, browned meat, red tomatoes and rich, dark chocolate.

Ingredients: 

Serves 6
1 lb. ground beef
1 diced onion
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans tomatoes, diced
2 cans chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. chili powder
½ teaspoon cumin
¼ teaspoon cayenne
Pinch of cinnamon
1 oz. dark chocolate

Directions: 

Brown the meat in a skillet over a moderate flame. Once done, remove the meat from the skillet. Leave some of the fat in the skillet and use it to sauté the onion and garlic till they are soft. Add the browned beef to a large pot along with the sautéed onions and garlic, beans, tomatoes, broth, chili powder, cumin, cayenne, salt, pepper and chocolate.

Simmer on a gentle heat for about an hour.

Tips: 

Cook chili the day before you plan to eat it and leave it overnight in the refrigerator. This will allow all the flavors to blend into each other.
