Chicken Cordon Bleu

A simple recipe for making Chicken Cordon Bleu. This dish is a gourmet's deight and is so easy to make! Try Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner tonight.

Ingredients: 

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
4 ham slices
4 Provolone cheese slices
1 beaten egg
1 tablespoon water
Dash of ground oregano
Dash of onion powder
1 cup plain bread crumbs
1 cup flour
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 350 deg. F.
Lay out each chicken breast flat. Sprinkle each with onion powder, pepper, and oregano. Place a piece of ham and a slice of cheese on each chicken breast. Fold the chicken breasts back together using toothpicks to keep the edges sealed.
Take three bowls. To the first bowl, add the flour, salt and pepper. To the second bowl, add the beaten egg and water. In the third bowl, place the bread crumbs and cheese.

Dip and coat each breast first in the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally the bread crumbs and cheese mix.

Grease a large baking pan. Place the chicken breasts in the pan and bake for about 20 minutes on each side.

Tips: 

For best results, start by placing the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pounding them with a mallet till they are nice and flat.
