1 small onion, minced
8 oz. tomato sauce
2 cups water
1/4 cup wine vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Combine all the ingredients in a pan over a moderate heat and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Take off the fire and cool.
For a spicier sauce, add a dash of tabasco.
