Description:

Squares of Baked Tofu are full of health and high on flavor. Try serving them with salads. The chewy texture of the tofu works well with crunchy greens. Baked tofu squares are also perfect as a quick snack.

Ingredients:

14 oz. extra firm tofu
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Optional: sliced green onions and black sesame seeds for garnish

Directions:

Slice tofu into two thinner blocks. Use paper towels to absorb any extra liquid.

Preheat oven to 350 deg. F.

In a small bowl, combine the sesame oil and soy sauce and whisk. Brush this mixture on both sides of the tofu pieces so that they are evenly coated. Leave the tofu to marinate in the soy-sesame mixture for 5-10 minutes.

Spray a non-stick baking sheet with non-stick spray and place the tofu slices on the sheet. Bake for about an hour. Brush the tofu with the soy-sesame mixture intermittently. You‘ll know that the tofu is done when the tofu looks glazed and nicely browned.

Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Tips:

Make sure you absorb as much of the liquid as possible from the tofu, using the paper towels. The more the liquid, the longer you’ll have to bake the tofu.
